The Olympics

WOW....it's been so intense! I love watching the events at night! I remember when the Olympics came to Atlanta in 1996 and our mom took my sister and I to the field hockey game and it was so much fun. We also got to go Centennial Park a few times, which was a blast cause we went on a hunt to find our bricks that have our names on them!! We are forever part of this city!! Stephanie and I wish that we could have gone to the gymnastics meet, but of course they were the hardest tickets to get, so we settled on watching them on TV. Steph and I grew up taking gymnastics and when we were younger our favorite gymnast was Kim Zmeskal! So needless to say this year when gymnastics was on T.V. she and I were on the phone talking and making sure that we saw how great our USA team is and reminiscing about our old favs like Shannon Miller and Dominique Daws. This year I am so amazed by how graceful Nastia Lukin is on the uneven bars and how Shawn Johnson was prefect on everything even though Nastia Beat her in the all around! Hey, at least they both got Bronze and Gold. So this year I have really gotten into swimming and beach volleyball as well! Right now as I'm writing this the men's USA volleyball team is in their second set for best 2 out of 3 after winning their first set for the GOLD!! As I am sitting here and watching I find myself cheering out loud and getting nervous for them! It really makes you proud to be an American to see our home team in the running to be the best in the world! Last Saturday night as my friends and I were out seeing a local band play, we watched as Michael Phelps set the new world record for 8 gold medals! It was so much fun cause we were all screaming and cheering on the USA rely team and watching history me made! Not sure if anyone is keeping up with the over all medal count, but the USA has 96 total medal, however China is leading in front of the US with the most Gold medals with 46 and we have 29. I don't know what I'm going to do when the Olympics are over! But for now GO TEAM USA!!!!
