Better Late than Never

I know, I know....it's been to long since my last blog! I have been really busy the last few weeks! From birthdays to Jury duty, I have been doing it all! I'm always coming up with different things to blog about in my head or things that I see and I tell me self or sometime those around me to "Blog it", but I just don't seem to get around to doing it. SORRY:(

So in my free time all I have wanted to do was read. I love to read. It is just a great escape for me. Well, I am a huge fan of Gone with the Wind and for Christmas Dad and Marcy got me the newest book in the series called "Rhett Butler's People". I read it at once when I got it (LOVED IT), and then I started GWTW since I had never read the book (only seen the movie a million times). I must say it is my all time favorite love story and I have a major crush on Rhett.

Anyways, so in my OH so boring time spent in Jury duty, I started reading the sequel "Scarlett". I had read this one awhile ago, but once I started reading I had forgotten how much I didn't remember because I was in such a hurry the first time. From the start I was hooked, again! I love the deep south traditions that are written throughout all three books. From the struggles to the triumphs to the fabulous balls and high steaks flirtations this story just entraps me and I can put the book down! It's like I wanted to keep reading to see when Rhett would come back or to find out how their next lovers quarrel would turn out.

I must say the "Scarlett" is a LONG book (825 pages) and there are some parts that I could have done without, but it really was a great book. It was kind of weird to have read all three books so close together and compare story lines and characters. By far I favor "Rhett Butlers People" to "Scarlett", but Scarlett is a longer version with things we would have never know about if this book had not been written.

So now that I am finished with the series, I have some time now to just hang out and such. But I have had some life while still in my fake world of fiction. Last weekend McCall, Amanda and I went to Athens to cheer on the Dawgs and to hang out with some friends who live up there! It was a great time, but soo HOT that we passed on actually going to the the game and opted to watch it downtown at Mellow Mushroom and AC. It was a great time and the Dawgs WON!! Here are a few pics from that day although I really wanted the picture of the three of us, but its on Amanda's camera.
Here is Amanda and I at mellow mushroom cheering on our Bulldogs!
Here is a cute picture of McCall with a fan that we found because it was Blazing outside. I must say it saved us! She so graciously posed for this picture!

On the following day the three of us went to see our favorite guys: SHANE and SHANE. They were in town playing at the Church of the Apostles where Russ Masterson is on staff. We meet up with Morgan and some of her friends as well as seeing Kristy Queen Masterson. Always good to see friends that you don't get get see very often. Shane and Shane were amazing and it was a GREAT night to just worship! This our third time seeing them this year! They keep getting better and better each time!

I don't know if you can tell, but in the picture below Shane and Shane have brought a small group of strings onto the stage to play with them and they were awesome...they said it was their 2nd time ever playing with them and it just made the experience so much better! Sorry it's kinda blurry.

It was also my little girl, Rene's 12th birthday this week as well as McCall's birthday so yesterday a big group of us went to Taco Mac to watch the dawgs get another WIN! Sorry for such a long post, hope all is well and would love hear from y'all! I hope to do better this week.

Very nice to have met you tonight. Dinner was nice and you were great conversation. I ahve known your Dad for a long time and am happy to be doing some business with him again.

Don't forget "Dune" by Frank Herbert and "The Stand" by Steven King. Not quite GWTW but good books in their own light. Forget the Ashes series, rather long (35 books) and mostly war and violence.
