Color Shout!!!

"We have Spirit Yes we Do, We have Spirit How 'bout You?"

It's about that time again. FOOTBALL!!!!

Last week I went and helped my cousin design and decorate her Megaphone for cheerleading! This year she is a Junior on the Varsity Football squad. Its a very coveted spot to hold and she has worked so hard to get there! I am so proud of her as a former varsity cheerleader myself! Seems like yesterday that she was a little BFA cheerleader and now she is all grown up! Guess it runs in the family:)

So they were given a blank megaphone and were told to decorate it to their liking for the Dome game. I had come up with a really cute Brookwood themed idea, well low and behold when we got to the drawing board she had a totally different idea. Not knowing that she could do anything she wanted and that it didn't have to be BHS it took a long time to figure out what we were going to do. We must have walked every isle at Joann's a million times. We were there for at least 2 hours coming up with a million ideas. We even called in reinforcements. Every idea imaginable was thrown out there. A million hot glue gun burns and we were all really happy with how it turned out.

TADA:

We had so much fun doing this together and I cherish all our time we get together. I think it really reflects MK's personality to a T! Hopefully all the other cheerleads were jealous! Brings back so many memories from going to the Dome games back in high school and makes me feel old at the same time! 10 years already? yikes.

Referb is Superb

A few projects have been going on for me the last few weeks, but I have not posted them until I had a finished product that I liked to share. My boss asked me to re-upholster a bench and three bar stools for him to finish the kitchen area as far as decorating goes. I got to help pick out the fabrics which was fun since he has a great color scheme to work with. Durability was a must have since there are teenagers in the house, thats a given. Scotch Guard is a life saver:)

First was the bench. This is where he keeps all the kids school work from previous and current school years. Its was this plain burlap before and we felt that the script pattern fit in good with feel of the room. It adds a different texture for sure. I think it contrasts well with the black finish in the wood part and ties in the rest of the brown fabrics in the room.
*Sorry I forgot to take a before picture. But here is the finished product

After waiting a week for the fabric we ordered to come in, I started breaking down the bar stools. That was the hardest part. I literally thought my fingers were going to fall off. The staples were a royal 'pain' to get off and it was the longest part. After that I got a good feel for how to get it just right.

After Picture:

This is an up close picture of the fabric. Loved this pattern as an accent fabric because most of the seating in the breakfast area is brown. Whereas when you look at the barstool you also see the back of the roll top chairs. ( As seen in the bottom picture)

So this is what it looks like when you walk in:

This is has the makings of a new hobby of mine now. Still trying to find the right fabric to recover the head board for our guess/ girls room. Who knows how long that will take to decide, but I think I have something in mind. What do you think about a Coral and white swirl?
