It's Fall Y'All

YAY, It's FALL!! It's my favorite time of year, well beside my birthday and Christmas. They are all neck and neck with each other though! Although today was all rainy and ugly, I was so excited to wear long sleeves again! From the smells and colors outside to the new clothes and even the colder weather, I love it all! It's like the pre- party to all the festivities to end the year! Anyway, now that fall is in full swing, I have been doing a few fall recipes...I have used cinnamon in at least one if not more of the side dishes every night this week! I have made stewed apples, candied carrots, acorn squish, and tonight I made my first Pumpkin Pie! It was so easy, but it took forever to cook! I can't wait to have a piece tomorrow! Looks like I'm going to have to fight off the cat and the pumpkin!J/K! I thought they added a fall touch to the picture!

Another reason that I love the fall is because it is now my niece Abby's birthday! Today, Abbs turned ONE!!! I can't believe that it has already been a year! What a blessing she is and not to mention what a cutie pie! To the right is the birthday girl sporting her 1st birthday crown at dinner, that didn't last long! Our new family tradition is that on the girls birthday we go eat at the famous Angus Barn...they even have an Iron Chef....if that explains how good the eatin' was! Afterwards we went back to Steph and Larry's new house to eat cake and open gifts. Well Abby tried too, but Anna Kate being the big sister did most of the "helping". It was a great visit and I can't wait to go back in a few weeks to have some one on one time with the girls.

For those of you who don't know, I love to do arts and crafts. It's therapeutic for me and I love doing it. So at night I make hair bows, bow holders, diaper cakes, and pillow case dresses etc. For the past few nights I have been doing some new bow holders and it has been keeping me pretty busy! Here is a slide show of a few things I have made. Let me know what you think.

Gas Craziness!

With Atlanta's Gas Crisis in full blown panic, I must say some people have really stepped up to the plate to save gas. In the picture above you will see (sorry kinda blurry) a little boy riding on a segway down Medlock Bridge Rd. about to cross a major intersection. He is definitely doing his part to "Go Green" too. For those of you who don't know what a Segway is, it is one of those motorized Scooters that you stand and Balance on, but for Grown-ups, not a kids scooter. When I saw him just segwaying down the road, my first thought was "Where do I get one?", then I could so hear his Mom saying "Can you run to the sore for some milk....I ran out of Gas!" I couldn't believe that a kid was driving one of those, when he doesn't even have a drivers license.

I must say that it's not everyday that you see one of those, except for the Rent-A-Cop at the mall patrolling the middle school kids who got dropped off for the movies! The only other time that I have even seen one of those is on MTV Cribs when Shack had one for his house cause it was so big or (he was to lazy) that he used it to get around the property. Then on an episode of The Simple Life, Paris Hilton tried to mop the kitchen floor with one and she fell off! SO FUNNY! If only we all had one of those to just run to the corner or to use around the house, then we might not have to be in this Gas crisis anymore! Come on with the GAS!!!

This and That

Before another weekend gets here, I thought that I would fill you guys in on what I did last weekend.....On Friday night Amanda, McCall and myself went to the fair for what was a nice kick of to fall. We eat ourselves into a silly oblivion, but who can resist all that great food that is so bad for you?? I mean it's only once a year that I get to eat funnel cakes and cotton candy so I carelessly give into temptation. Before we ate to our hearts content, McCall and I rode a few rides in which I was glad we chose to eat later. The dizziness would have surly made me sick, but it's not the fair without out being dizzy from all the spinning around.

On Saturday, I spent just about the whole day with my cousins shopping for Mary Katherine's Miss Freshman Pageant dress. It seems just like yesterday that I was doing the same thing back in the day. It was so fun playing dress up with her. I can't believe that she is old enough to be doing her own pageant...I can still remember when she came to my pageants. I am so happy that they are including in all the festivities...I even get to go back stage with her to help get her ready! SO FUN. That night I just chilled and watched the Dawgs grasp another win.

Sunday, we woke-up early to go down to Buckhead Church before going to the final Braves game. It was so much fun and the seats are always great. Thanks McCall and FTI for a great day. It was perfect weather for a day at the ball park. News flash...I forgot my camera again, so I had to use my cell phone...Here is a few pics to document the day.

Here is McCall and Katie....this was right before we almost got Knocked out by a foul ball that hit two rows behind us...

This little guy is the usher that is working every time we go to the game and EVERY TIME he stops right by our seats and tells us how cute we all are...this is a picture of him dancing and trying to pump the crowd up. How cute is he???

On Saturday I got the call that one of my Best Friends, Erin, was in Labor with her second baby boy. She lives up in Toccoa still and wasn't suppose to be induced until tomorrow(Friday) and I had already scheduled to go then, but when he came early I had to wait to go see her since I already had plans....so early on Sunday morning Asher Johnson Fleming was born. He weighted in at 8lbs 1oz and was 22 1/2 inches long. On Monday I drove up there after work to see her and little Asher. They are doing great and he is just precious. Just last year I was there for when her first son,Drake, was born. I got to hold him just minutes after he was born, so I was kinda bumbed that I couldn't be there for Asher's' birth too. God is so amazing. Erin and Cameron have two precious little boys. It's so different for me since I'm so use to AK and Abby, but I like throwing the mix in there with the boys. She is the first of all my girls friends to have babies so its kinda weird, but a good thing.

Here is Asher, asleep in my arms. I luv him!

This is Drake last year asleep in Erin's arms. DO you think they look alike??

One Crazy Day!!!

Let me just recap for you my day...Woke up late after staying up late reading my new book (Love walked In). Spent some time with Jesus in the car thinking that I would have a good day, but when I get to work, the kitchen is full of dirty dishes etc.(which happens everyday). Some days I'll get a nice surprise, but it's few and far between! But hey it's my job! I'm open to new prospects:)

So I check my email and the boss wants me to clean out from between the window and the screens of each window in his room and bathroom. No biggie....so I do my regular cleaning and start for the windows...It was like caked on mud with dead spiders and bugs....UGH at this point I'm grossed out!!! But it felt so good outside that I didn't mind it to much! As I'm closing one of the windows, I didn't know that they were the kind that pop out, well IT FELL ON MY HEAD!!!! My eyes went blurry and it slammed my sunglasses straight down into my skull! Now I have this pain in my back, neck, and chest! It like jared my whole body! My poor sunglasses were all bent...I think I was more concerned with them, than myself!

So after that I go get the kiddo's and we head over to the annex to get Wesleyan apparel for Rene'....who knew that a plain fleece with a "W" logo the size of a quarter on the back would cost $55...come on!

Once we get home I start making dinner....my yummy homemade Lasagna with pita bread and balsamic dip as an appetizer!! This is a favorite around that house! Anyways, as I'm washing stuff in the sink the whole spicket shoots off and water goes everywhere!!! I'm screaming for Z to come help and then it occurs to me that I need to just turn off the water...after it was everywhere! The boss man come upstairs from working out to fix it, so that I could finish cleaning up the kitchen for the second time today! Oh JOY!

Could my day get any worse?!?!

OH YEAH....following that Rene' needed me to help her pick out an outfit for the pizza party tomorrow after school. For those of you who don't have teens, let me tell you that it's hecka hard trying to decide what to wear...God still confirms this to me everyday that I'm not ready to be a real mommy yet!!! God love them, but I'm not ready for that step yet! I still get to go home everyday!!

Needless to say Rene' and I have total opposite taste...I'm more of a polo and khaki kind of girl and she is into t-shirt and tennis shoes(black)!! I'm sure that y'all can see my frustrations! I had to break it down for her and compromise alittle! Needless to say we picked a cute enough outfit....after all I'm not the one wearing it! Just another headache to add to the pounding one I already had!

Then...Z needed me to cut his hair! He has one of those long shaggy hair swoops! I have done it once before and it turned out okay! So I start cutting! It's actually quite cathartic....till i cut a piece to short...OOPS!!

Don't worry I made up for it! He never knew!

Then as I'm thinning his hair out we start getting eaten alive by ants and mosquito's! Now I have bites all over my legs and my feet! That just topped off my whole day!

It was just a crazy day and I can't wait for tomorrow cause it's Friday and me and the girls are going to the county Fair!!! Funnel Cakes and Cotton Candy here were come!!! Say a little prayer for me that tomorrow is a better day!

Better Late than Never

I know, I know....it's been to long since my last blog! I have been really busy the last few weeks! From birthdays to Jury duty, I have been doing it all! I'm always coming up with different things to blog about in my head or things that I see and I tell me self or sometime those around me to "Blog it", but I just don't seem to get around to doing it. SORRY:(

So in my free time all I have wanted to do was read. I love to read. It is just a great escape for me. Well, I am a huge fan of Gone with the Wind and for Christmas Dad and Marcy got me the newest book in the series called "Rhett Butler's People". I read it at once when I got it (LOVED IT), and then I started GWTW since I had never read the book (only seen the movie a million times). I must say it is my all time favorite love story and I have a major crush on Rhett.

Anyways, so in my OH so boring time spent in Jury duty, I started reading the sequel "Scarlett". I had read this one awhile ago, but once I started reading I had forgotten how much I didn't remember because I was in such a hurry the first time. From the start I was hooked, again! I love the deep south traditions that are written throughout all three books. From the struggles to the triumphs to the fabulous balls and high steaks flirtations this story just entraps me and I can put the book down! It's like I wanted to keep reading to see when Rhett would come back or to find out how their next lovers quarrel would turn out.

I must say the "Scarlett" is a LONG book (825 pages) and there are some parts that I could have done without, but it really was a great book. It was kind of weird to have read all three books so close together and compare story lines and characters. By far I favor "Rhett Butlers People" to "Scarlett", but Scarlett is a longer version with things we would have never know about if this book had not been written.

So now that I am finished with the series, I have some time now to just hang out and such. But I have had some life while still in my fake world of fiction. Last weekend McCall, Amanda and I went to Athens to cheer on the Dawgs and to hang out with some friends who live up there! It was a great time, but soo HOT that we passed on actually going to the the game and opted to watch it downtown at Mellow Mushroom and AC. It was a great time and the Dawgs WON!! Here are a few pics from that day although I really wanted the picture of the three of us, but its on Amanda's camera.
Here is Amanda and I at mellow mushroom cheering on our Bulldogs!
Here is a cute picture of McCall with a fan that we found because it was Blazing outside. I must say it saved us! She so graciously posed for this picture!

On the following day the three of us went to see our favorite guys: SHANE and SHANE. They were in town playing at the Church of the Apostles where Russ Masterson is on staff. We meet up with Morgan and some of her friends as well as seeing Kristy Queen Masterson. Always good to see friends that you don't get get see very often. Shane and Shane were amazing and it was a GREAT night to just worship! This our third time seeing them this year! They keep getting better and better each time!

I don't know if you can tell, but in the picture below Shane and Shane have brought a small group of strings onto the stage to play with them and they were awesome...they said it was their 2nd time ever playing with them and it just made the experience so much better! Sorry it's kinda blurry.

It was also my little girl, Rene's 12th birthday this week as well as McCall's birthday so yesterday a big group of us went to Taco Mac to watch the dawgs get another WIN! Sorry for such a long post, hope all is well and would love hear from y'all! I hope to do better this week.

Long Weekend Getaway

Man I love to take road trips!! I love them when they involve a long weekend and time with my family! Mom asked me last week if I had any plans for the holiday weekend and I said that the girls wanted to go to Athens for opening weekend of Georgia football, but I was open to whatever. So at the last minute we decided to take a road trip to see my sister up in Wake Forest, NC. It also helped that the Dawgs will be in town next weekend too, so I can cheer them in then!!

Let me tell you from the moment the girls wake up, they are on speed 900!!!! I just love when we arrive late and with hopes of sleep in, I am awaken by the sweetest baby in the world pulling at my blinders cause she wants to play!!! It doesn't get much better than that!
Steph and I were able to do some fun shopping at the mall while the girls took a nap, which I am ALWAYS up for! I am so ready for fall to get here tho, so I can get more new clothes!!! Sunday was a great day for resting and playing! Here is Abby when she and I were playing chase...now that she can crawl we can have more fun!!! The closest camera was my phone so I turned on my light to get a better pic, so that's what the funny face is for, but it's too cute!!

On Monday, all the girls decided to head out to Pullin Park to have a picnic and hang out before we hit the road home! Larry wasn't able to go cause he had to work...sad! This was my first time there and for those of you who do not know what it is, this is the park when they shot the opening scene of the Andy Griffith Show...You know the lake shot with their fishing polls?!?!?! I know you are whistling the song now!!!!
This is such a neat park. We were able to have a picnic by the lake, ride the carousel, take a train ride and ride on the water boats. As you can see Bella also made the trip. She and the girls are big play buddies! This is a great picture of all the "girls".

Here is Anna Kate and I on the train....it was so neat to be on there cause its been forever since I was on one and to share it with these precious girls. We were also able to see some of the N.C. State campus while on riding!

It was such a great weekend and I hated having to come home, but another busy work week is already in progress! I'll see them in a few weeks for Abby's 1st birthday! I can't wait because I already miss them! But till then, I have some pretty fun things going on! Hope everyone had a great three day weekend!

Blast from the Past

Were you one of those teens that LOVED watching 90210 back in the day? Well I was then and I'll confess that I love to watch the re-runs on the soap channel when they are on now! Tonight on the CW is the premiere of the new 90210 and so far so good! I found myself singing along with that oh so memorable theme song!

Who could forget the air punch in the opening credits! Wouldn't be the 90's with out Kelly, Brenda, Brandon, Donna, Dylan (my fav), Steve, David, and Andrea!

SO now that there is a new cast and a few of the old one's back, I am so excited! I mean they even have the peach pit, which is now just "The Pit" with a new flair (even with Nat). I find myself looking for more of the old story continued rather than all the new teen drama! For instance, one of the girls in the new cast is Kelly's little sister Erin, and Kelly is the school counselor. Brenda and Kelly are rekindling their friendship, while Kelly raises a 4 yr. old son (which I think is Brandon's). It's so weird to see the new cast and be able to compare their characters to who they are supposed to kinda be like from the old cast! From designer clothes, fab cars, and crazy party's...I guess West Beverly will never change.
